A layer of cooked puff pastry, covered with kashta cream & pistachios, then baked. A heavenly treat!
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Preheat the oven to 375 F.
- 2
Unroll the puff pastry and put it in the oven for 15 min or until its top layer becomes crispy and golden. Remove from the oven and let it to cool.
- 3
Break the cooked pastry into medium pieces and put them in a large bowl. Add in the raisins, almonds and pine nuts. Mix well. Spread the mixture evenly in a baking dish.
- 4
Bring the milk, sugar, heavy cream and vanilla extract to a boil in a medium saucepan. When they start boiling, lower the temperature and let simmer for 5 min. Remove from heat and let cool.
- 5
Pour milk mixture gradually over the pastry and nut mixture in the dish, wait a bit before adding some more again so that it gets absorbed by the pastry.
- 6
Then sprinkle the crushed pistachios on top and set dish aside for 15 minutes to make sure that the puff pastry has absorbed enough liquid.
- 7
Bake the dish in the oven for 15 minutes ( 5 min of which under the broiler). The top of the dish should become golden/ brown. Serve warm.

Umm Ali (Egyptian Dessert) Umm Ali (Egyptian Dessert)
#post15 - This is a traditional Egyptian dessert that is very popular in all Middle Eastern countries, especially during Ramadan. It is made of puff pastry / croissant and is almost similar to bread pudding, but without any eggs. It is very simple to prepare where all you need is to pour thickened milk over some shredded croissant, followed by some cream, coconut and chopped nuts. It is then baked till done. Can be enjoyed hot or cold. I prefer the latter one. So here is my version where I added some khoya and flavoured it with cardamom powder and some rose water instead of the usual vanilla essence that is used. #goldenapron Bethica Das -

Kahk (Egyptian Dessert) Kahk (Egyptian Dessert)
I learned this recipe from my Egyptian friend's grandmother, who is a great cook.Since the dough is not very sweet, it's better to sprinkle on a lot of powdered sugar.Kahk without any filling tastes great also.Ghee is a butter that is made from milk fat from water-buffalo. I bought it at a wholesale market in Tokyo. Since cardamom has a strong smell, it's best to use it in moderation. Recipe by pumpkinpot cookpad.japan -

Bengali Restaurant Style Falooda/Falooda (Dessert) Recipe 🍜 Bengali Restaurant Style Falooda/Falooda (Dessert) Recipe 🍜
#bcamFalooda/falooda is a very popular cold and sweet beverage/ dessert dish for summer and great for Iftar during Ramadan in my Country Bangladesh.Falooda is very refreshing. Traditionally it is made with lots ingredients. here I have tried to make it simple and easy for homemade version to keep it original flavour. You can use or add fruit by your choice, just pick sweet one. Rose essence goes well with this recipe, though you can use Rooh Afza which will give you a royal flavour and colour together. If you don’t have any of these liquid to use just boil milk with 1 cardamom pod. However, it's my most favorite dessert. Am sure you will also enjoy it . Take LOVE from BANGLADESH. 💙 Bengali Spice 💚
