Cut the kunafa pastry into small pieces. Add the melted, warm (not hot) butter and mix well. The butter should be melted and warm enough to touch comfortably.

In a medium baking pan with low sides, spread half of the kunafa mixture and press it down firmly. Sprinkle all the nuts and coconut evenly over the top, then add the remaining kunafa and press down well.

Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20 minutes.

Invert the kunafa onto a serving plate and pour the cold simple syrup over it.

Cut into pieces and serve. Enjoy!
