Ingredients

6 servings
  1. Shrimp:
  2. 2 1/2 cupswater
  3. 2 tbspwhite wine vinegar
  4. 2 (1 inch)wide) strips lemon peel
  5. 1 tspsalt
  6. 1 lbshelled, deveined uncooked medium shrimp
  7. Sauce:
  8. 1 (14.5 oz)can diced tomatoes, well drained
  9. 1small garlic clove, minced
  10. 1 tbsplemon juice
  11. 2 tspWorcestershire sauce
  12. 3/4 tsppaprika
  13. 1/4 tspblack pepper
  14. 1/4 tsphot pepper sauce
  15. 1/8 tspcelery seeds
  16. 1/8 tspsalt
  17. 1 tbspvodka, if desired

Steps

  1. 1

    In medium saucepan, combine water, vinegar, lemon peel and salt; bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat. Add shrimp; cook 3 to 6 minutes or until shrimp turn pink. Strain; spread shrimo on plate to cool. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

    Place all sauce ingredients except vodka in food processor or blender; process until sauce is almost smooth. Stir in vodka. Refrigerate at least 30 minutes. Serve shrimp with sauce.
