Who doesn't love some tender ribs that practically fall off the bone? Made these for my family during Easter and they almost got finished before they made it to the table. Enjoy.
Steps
- 1
If you're pork is frozen, defrost it and remove the membrane covering the ribs if there is. If you leave it there it cooks up really chewy and also prevents proper marinating
- 2
Apply the rub indicated in the instructions above. Just mix the spices together and rub them onto the pork. Paprika, brown sugar, black pepper, onion powder, salt, white pepper, garlic powder. Feel free to use fresh crushed garlic paste. Let that sit for about an hour then wrap it up in foil.
- 3
Wrap them like so and then set the oven at about 150 degrees and let them slow cook for about 2.5 to 3 hours. When you take them out they should be extremely tender. Make sure they are sealed well by the foil so they dont pour their fluids into the oven.
- 4
When you take them out they should be very juicy. Now cut them into individual ribs
- 5
As you get ready to baste them with the barbecue sauce
- 6
Now.for the barbecue sauce. Start making this when the meat is still In the oven to save time. You need to put the brown sugar, garlic, water, tomato paste, mustard, ketchup, onion powder, apple cider, dark mushroom soy sauce and a dash of store bought barbecue sauce if you really want the smoky flavour. This is because cooking In an oven doesn't bring about the smoky flavour but its optional.
- 7
I let that simmer and thicken then I add some guiness. After about 15 minutes. This really enhances the flavour but its optional. You can also use any beer you prefer.
- 8
How it should look when done. Make sure you simmer on low until it gets quite thick
- 9
Coat them and send them into the oven on high for the baste to crystallize and dry up. You can do two coats
- 10
In the oven on high for about 10 mins
- 11
I decided to serve with baked potatoes. I thoroughly washed the potatoes because I was leaving the skins on
- 12
I halfed the ones that were too big so they could all cook evenly. I boiled them in salty water until they became slighty tender. This cuts down cooking time and also ensures they dont dry out in the oven. Then I took them out and seasoned them.
- 13
Start with olive oil coat the potatoes well then season with black pepper, salt, rosemary, paprika or whatever spices you would like.
- 14
I let the potatoes bake for like 40 mins, you can keep checking on them. Meanwhile I made a salad with apples lettuce and cucumber.
- 15
End result. Enjoy.
