Pour the vegetable stock in rice cooker or big pot. Add barley, carrot, celery, tomato, mushroom, chopped onion and bay leaf.

Add garlic, sugar, salt, pepper, parsley, butter and salt. Close with lid and slow cook for 60 minutes. I used slow cooker if you are using the pot put simmer for 60 minutes.

Remove bay leaf and serve hot.
