Ingredients

  1. 500 gramsknafeh pastry (available at most supermarkets)
  2. 1/2 cup(about 120 grams) clarified butter or ghee, for desserts
  3. Nabulsi cheese
  4. Pistachios, for garnish
  5. For the syrup:
  6. 2 cupssugar (about 400 grams)
  7. 1 1/2 cupswater (about 360 ml)

Steps

    Mix the knafeh pastry with the clarified butter, then press it into a baking pan with your hands.

  2. 2

    Soak the Nabulsi cheese in water for a full day, changing the water every 2 hours, until it is no longer salty.

  3. 3

    Place the cheese over the pastry, making sure it doesn’t touch the edges. Bake, then garnish with pistachios and pour the syrup over the top. Enjoy!
