Hamburger Steak with Gravy

Lately, I've been enjoying experimenting with Japanese cuisine 😁 because most of the recipes are simple and don't take long to cook. Plus, the kids really love Japanese food. These hamburgers are delicious and go well with mashed potatoes. I just didn't have time to make mashed potatoes because I was in a hurry to prepare lunch boxes for the kids. Perfect for bento/lunch boxes. Enjoy trying it out!
Hamburger Steak with Gravy

Sauté the onion for the hamburger until browned. Remove, mix with the remaining hamburger ingredients. Mix well, then shape the mixture into burgers, dividing as desired.

Cook the burgers in a pan until both sides are browned. Remove and set aside. Note: It's okay if the burgers are not fully cooked, as they will be cooked again with the gravy sauce.

In the same pan, sauté the onion with butter, then add the flour, stirring until browned (be careful not to burn it). Pour in the water or broth, and stir well. You can add bouillon powder or a block. Add Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, salt, sugar, and pepper. Taste and adjust the seasoning. Then add the burgers back in, and let them simmer over medium/low heat for 10-15 minutes.

Remove and serve with the gravy sauce. You can garnish with mashed potatoes, boiled carrots, etc. This is for the kids' school lunch 😋😊
