Ingredients

  • 2Large Onion
  • 1/2 cupGram flour
  • 1/4 cupRice flour
  • 1/4 tspAjwain seeds
  • 1/2 tspChilli powder
  • 1 pinchbaking soda
  • Salt as per your taste
  • 1/2 cupwater
  • 1 cupoil

Steps

  1. 1

    Peel and slice the onions into rounds and keep aside. 

  2. 2

    In a mixing bowl add the gram flour, rice flour, Ajwain, chilli powder, baking soda, salt, water and make a smooth batter.

  3. 3

    Heat oil in a pan. When the oil is smoking hot, reduce the flame, deep the onions into the batter and coat well with batter. Gently drop the onion into the oil.

  4. 4

    Fry on medium heat till golden and crisp on both sides. Continue the same and fry the remaining onions in batches. 

  5. 5

    Drain them into absorbent paper and serve it as it is or with any chutney of your choice.
