Candied Orange Peel

I had a bunch of oranges given to me and I honestly had absolutely no clue what to do with them all so from making the orange cake I used the rind of the oranges instead of throwing it out.
It's also perfect to give as a homemade gift.

I had a bunch of oranges given to me and I honestly had absolutely no clue what to do with them all so from making the orange cake I used the rind of the oranges instead of throwing it out.
It's also perfect to give as a homemade gift.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
In boiling water cook the orange strips for 15 minutes, drain the water and repeat. (This is to remove some of the bitterness from the rind)
- 2
In a saucepan (I used a 20cm round saucepan) add the sugar and 300ml of water then over medium heat stir continously until the sugar has dissolved.
- 3
Add the peel and bring it to boiling point then reduce it to a simmer and cook for approximately 45 minutes until the orange rind is really soft. If there is any liquid left drain. Mine became gloopy and really sticky so I had to work quickly before it cooled down and hardened.
- 4
Line a baking tray with greaseproof paper and add 150g sugar spread out.
- 5
Toss the orange rind evenly in the sugar, separating any rinds that are stuck together.
- 6
Transfer the coated rind to a tray lined with foil.
- 7
Cover the tray with a tea towel and let it dry for 1-2 days. Then place in an airtight container and enjoy.

Candied Amanatsu Citrus Peel Candied Amanatsu Citrus Peel
Amanatsu peels are so pretty, so I thought I'd try making my own candied peel with it. I wasn't too precise cutting up the peel, so this may not be very professional, but I had great fun making it.It's really important to remove all of the white pith from the peel, otherwise your candied peels will be bitter. Leave the peel to dry completely in Step 5 is also very important, otherwise it will just absorb the dredging sugar and become soggy. You can make this recipe with any citrus fruit. However, grapefruits have a very distinctive bitter taste so it may not work well. Recipe by mashiho cookpad.japan -

Mandarin Orange Yeast Mandarin Orange Yeast
I wanted to make natural yeast from fruit in season, and so I decided to use the mandarin oranges I had on hand. I love the aroma of citrus, so it was fun to make mandarin orange yeast liquid.Although this may take a while to make in the winter, (when mandarin oranges are in season), it should not mold easily. If you use organic oranges, you can add the peel, too. If the fruit is sweet, you don't need to add honey, but you should add it if using mandarin oranges. Recipe by Surou cookpad.japan -

Concentrated Orange Syrup Concentrated Orange Syrup
Orange syrup without preservatives or additives, made with fresh orange juice that, when diluted with water or soda, surpasses the taste of commercial orange soda.A few more secretsIt also makes a nice drink when mixed with vodka, ouzo, rum, etc. It keeps for up to 2 months in the fridge. If you want to keep it longer, store it in the freezer. You can make lemonade the same way using lemon juice; the only thing I add is 1 vanilla bean, which you can skip. If the syrup crystallizes after boiling, don't worry—just add the juice and stir. This recipe was given to me by a grandmother from the city. flyTranslated from Cookpad Greece -
