Ingredients

  1. 3 cupsflour - sifted
  2. 2 cupssugar
  3. 1 cupvegetable oil
  4. 4eggs
  5. 1large orange, cut into medium-sized pieces
  6. 3 tspbaking powder
  7. 1/4 tspsalt
  8. 2 tbsporange zest
  9. Orange Icing - cake sauce:
  10. 1 cuporange juice
  11. 1 tspsugar
  12. 1 tspcornstarch

Cooking Instructions

    Using a stand mixer add the orange pieces, sugar, eggs and oil then mix the ingredients until well combined

    Next start by adding the flour, baking powder and salt, then mix well until the mixture is well combined and smooth.

    Now Pour the mixture into a pre greased cake pan with butter and flour, then set aside

    Meanwhile preheat the oven to 180° C or 350° F and bake the cake on the middle rack for 45 minutes.

    When the cake is ready, flip out of the cake pan and on to a cooling rack for 1 hour before adding the icing on top

    Meanwhile to make the icing add orange juice, sugar and starch in a suitable saucepan over a medium heat and stir the ingredients until it boils and thickens and it will be ready to use.

    Finally when the cake is cooled Pour the orange icing sauce over the top of the cake & garnish with orange zest.
