Ingredients

  1. 500 gmsboneless chicken breast
  2. 2 tbspsesame oil
  3. 1/2 cupdiced onions
  4. 1/2 cupdiced bell peppers (red and green)
  5. As RequiredOil for deep frying
  6. 1/2 tspsesame seeds for garnish
  7. For the marinade
  8. 2 tbsplight soya sauce
  9. 1 tbspvinegar
  10. 1/2 tspbaking soda
  11. 1egg
  12. For the sauce
  13. 1 tbspblack pepper coarsely ground
  14. 1 tbspfinely chopped garlic
  15. 1 tspred chilli flakes
  16. 3 tbsplight soya sauce
  17. 3 tbspoyster sauce
  18. 3 tbspvinegar
  19. 1 tbsphoney
  20. 1 1/2 tbspcornflour
  21. For dredging
  22. 1/2 cupall-purpose flour
  23. 1/2 cupcornflour

Cooking Instructions

    To begin, cut the chicken breast into bite-sized pieces.

    Marinate it with light soy sauce, vinegar, baking soda, and egg. Mix well and keep aside for at least 10 minutes.

    Mix together the all-purpose flour and cornflour for dredging in a large bowl. Add in the marinated chicken and mix until the pieces are well coated. Dust off the extra flour.

    Heat oil for deep frying. Fry the chicken pieces on medium heat until cooked. Make sure they do not brown. Use a knife to check if the pieces are cooked.

    To prepare the sauce, add light soy sauce, oyster sauce, vinegar, honey, coarsely ground black pepper, and chili flakes in a large bowl. Keep aside

    Heat the sesame oil in a pan. Add the chopped garlic and saute. Do not brown.

    Add in the onions and bell peppers. Cook for a minute or two.

  8. 8

    Add in the sauce mix and cook it for 2-3 minutes.

    Make a slurry of cornflour with 3 tbsp of water. Add it to the sauce and cook until it thickens.

    Add in the fried chicken pieces and mix until well coated. Add a bit of water as required if you find the consistency too thick.

    The Spicy Black Pepper Chicken is ready to serve. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve hot.
