Wine-drunk beef

Extra simple recipe, with just a few ingredients, but sooo delicious!
You can vary the amount of wine that you use. You can use just one cup and use water for the rest of the liquid, or you could use just wine! The taste of the sauce will be different, but it's super tasty no matter what you do.
You could add onions, carrots, mushrooms, potatoes etc and make it into a stew.
You could also make it with chicken, turkey or pork. The only thing that changes is the time each meat needs to get tender.

So many possibilities!!!

Ingredients

  1. 1kilo beef cut in cubes
  2. 1/3 cupolive oil (or any kind of oil you want)
  3. 2 cupswhite wine
  4. salt, pepper, oregano
  5. 1/4 cupfresh lemon juice

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Put the oil in a pan. Once heated, add your beef cubes. Turn them so that they get brown on all sides.

  2. 2

Add the lemon juice and then the wine, pepper and oregano. If needed, add water to just barely cover the meat. Cover the pan and leave it on very slow heat.

  3. 3

It will be done when the meat is truly tender and the wine/lemon/water has become a lovely sauce. Just before this, add some salt and taste. Adjust the lemon and salt to your taste.
You can serve with rice or fries or pasta

I live in Greece but I love to try and experiment with food from all over the world! I have 2 children that are grown up now and off to the University, but I consider it my great success that they both love to try new things, they can cook and actually love to do it! It is my firm belief that everyone can cook and the only thing to do is get in the kitchen and try it!
