I like beef shank since it becomes tender if you simmer it for a while.
I wanted to make a version simmered in beer, but I had white wine so I tried that instead.

If you cook beef shank long and slowly, it will become tender (about 1 hour).

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 200 gramsBeef shank
  2. 1to 2 Onion
  3. 300 mlWhite wine
  4. 2to 3 cloves Garlic
  5. 1Soup stock cube
  6. 100 mlWater (as needed)
  7. 1 dashOregano (if you have some)

Steps

  1. 1

    Put olive oil and crushed garlic cloves in a heavy bottomed pan and turn on the heat. Cook until fragrant. Add the beef and brown.

  2. 2

    When the beef is nicely colored, add the sliced onions and sauté briefly. Add the white wine and soup stock cube and simmer over low heat.

  3. 3

    If the liquid reduces, check the meat to see how tender it is. If it's still tough, add water and continue simmering.

  4. 4

    Serve with bread to mop up that delicious sauce.
