Winter Melon and Barley Tea Winter Melon and Barley Tea
In the summer, make a big pot of winter melon tea and keep it in the fridge to enjoy anytime. It's refreshing and helps cool you down. The skin, pulp, and seeds of the winter melon are very useful. Adding barley helps reduce water retention. SaTranslated from Cookpad Taiwan -
California Farm Barley Sprouts California Farm Barley Sprouts
One pound of unhulled barley grain make 6 pounds of fresh green sprouts in a week, 12 pounds in two weeks, indoors in a mason jar or in a raingutter piece in your garage or shed, or outside on wood. A baby wading pool works well too. Outside growing takes longer. You can grow 6 to 12 pounds of fresh sprouts from 2 cups of dry barley grains. You can have a sprout salad every day, bake sprouted barley bread, and have sprout and avocado cheese sandwiches. We also use sprouted barley to feed our chickens, our geese, our piglet, our lambs and our horses. If you give them hay and a mat of fresh sprouted barley side by side, they will eat the barley sprouts first. There is an old farmers trick in keeping mold out of of sprouting barley: we mix a spoonfull of sunflower seeds with the barley grains, water spray the seeds twice a day on a wood surface that drains, no mold. Beef Barley Stew Beef Barley Stew
It's been a while since I tried to cook something new, and I have to admit I've gotten lazy of late and have been ordering delivery a lot. But here's something I'd been meaning to try making for a while as the weather has been cooling some. (yeah 25°C counts as cool down here in the tropics!) Here's a hearty stew that might be even better for those of you that have real winter to contend with! 蛟龍Stormwyrm -
Barley Flour Cookies Barley Flour Cookies
I originally made these cookies with kinako, but lately I have been making them with barley flour instead.Caution: The ingredients are adjusted to suit barley flour. Making these with kinako requires different amounts and processes, so be careful!Step 2: It's rather difficult to clump the dough together, so you can add a little bit more soy milk if you like. Don't add too much or it will probably become too tough. If you change the flours to 50 g barley flour and 50 g regular flour, it will really bring out the aroma of the barley flour, but the dough will be harder to work with. Either way is okay. Recipe by Soraten mama cookpad.japan -

I had a craving for snacks made with barley flour! These are addictive.I like these sweet, so I added the same amount of honey as barley (60 g each). The dough will probably come together without the hot water, but if it doesn't, add a little hot water at a time until it reaches your desired consistency. Recipe by Kobashi- cookpad.japan
