Ingredients

20 minutes
2 serves
  1. 11/2 cuppoha (flattened rice)
  2. 21/2 cupwater
  3. 1/2 tspcumin seeds, coarsely crushed
  4. 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  5. 1 pinchcooking soda
  6. Sauce :
  7. 3 Tbsp oil
  8. 1 tbspgarlic, finely chopped
  9. 1/2 tspred chilli powder
  10. 1 pinchsalt (optional)

Cooking Instructions

    Take poha in a mixer jar & blend it to a fine powder. Keep aside.

    Now take a non-stick pan. Add water & coarsely crushed cumin seeds. Once the water starts to boil add red chilli powder & cooking soda.

    Add powdered poha immediately.Stir continuously with a slotted spoon or ' velan '.

    The mixture will thicken. Now cover & cook on a slow flame for 5-7 minutes. Switch off the gas & remove in a plate.

    Cool the mixture a little. Now oil your palms & take a small portion of the mixture & make balls from it. You can make 1 big ball & other small balls from it also.

    Keep these balls in a greased plate.When you want to serve, steam these balls in a steamer for 5 minutes.

    Sauce : Take oil in a pan.Add chopped garlic in it. When garlic changes colour switch off the gas & add red chilli powder & salt in it. Keep aside.

    Lastly remove the steaming hot balls from the steamer,pour the sauce over it & serve immediately. Deliciously famous Poha Khichu Balls are ready.
