Ingredients

  1. 2 tbspbutter
  2. 2 tbspall purpose flour
  3. 1 tspsalt
  4. 1 tspsugar
  5. 1/2 cuponion (diced)
  6. 1 cupsour cream
  7. 3-5 cansfrench style green beans (less cans=more creamy)
  8. 2 cupshredded cheddar cheese
  9. 1/2 cupcrushed ritz crackers
  10. 1 tbspbutter (melted)
  11. 1/2 cupFrench's french fried onions

Cooking Instructions

    Preheat oven to 350°

    Sautee onions in butter in large skillet over medium heat, until soft

  3. 3

    Stir in flour until smooth

  4. 4

    Stir in salt, sugar, and sour cream

  5. 5

    Add green beans, stir to coat

  6. 6

    Transfer mix to 2 1/2 qt. casserole dish

  7. 7

    In separate bowl mix together crushed ritz crackers, French fried onions and melted butter

  8. 8

    Cover green bean mixture with cheddar cheese, then cracker mixture

  9. 9

    Bake for 30 mins. or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly

  10. 10

    If you really miss the cream of mushroom soup, you could always add some into the sour cream mixture. Just reduce the sour cream to half and add cream of mushroom soup. You could also add in fresh mushrooms with your onions :-)**

The one thing my wife wanted for our thanksgiving dinner was green bean casserole, so I made this recipe. She and all of us loved it. Very good. :evilgrin
