Ingredients

  1. 1 lbGround beef
  2. 1/4 cuponion, chopped
  3. 8 ozTomato sauce
  4. 1/4 cupKetchup
  5. 1 dashground black pepper (to taste )
  6. 2 cupCheddar cheese (shredded, divided)
  7. 1 canRefrigerated Buttermilk Biscuits (10 per can)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Preheat oven to 400°F.

  2. 2

In a skillet, over medium-high heat, cook ground beef and onions until meat is browned and onions are tender. Drain and return to skillet.

  3. 3

Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, and black pepper.

  4. 4

In a greased 8x8 inch baking dish/pan, spread half the mixture over the bottom. Add a layer of shredded cheese (1 cup). Repeat layers.

  5. 5

Flatten each biscuit and lay on top, covering as much area as possible. I used 9 biscuits this way, used the 10th to fill in gaps, then pinched and kneaded with fingertips until it covered the whole thing.

  6. 6

Bake for 18-22 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and mixture is bubbly.

  7. 7
