Ingredients

30-35 minutes
6(six) servings
  1. 200 gmToor Dal
  2. 50 gm Chana Dal
  3. 250 gm Chopped veggies
  4. 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  5. Salt to taste
  6. 2 tspTamarind paste
  7. 4 tsp Sambar powder
  8. 2 Green chilli
  9. 2Onions
  10. 5-7 Garlic cloves
  11. 10-12 Curry leaves

Cooking Instructions

    Pressure-cook the dal in 500 ml of water with salt and turmeric powder for three whistles. Open the lid and add 250 g of chopped vegetables like brinjal, ladies finger, radish, drumstick, pumpkin etc. Cover and cook till the vegetables are soft and tender. Add 2 tsp sambar powder. Add onion(sliced), green chilli (slit), tamarind paste and cook for a while. Keep it aside.

    Heat 2-3 tsp oil in a deep pan. Temper 1/2 tsp panch phutan, 2 dry chillis, 5-7 garlic cloves (crushed), a pinch of hing and 10-12 curry leaves.

    Add boiled dal and vegetables. Add the remaining sambar powder and cover the pan. Reduce the heat and turn off the flame after 2 minutes.

    Serve hot with steamed rice.
