Ingredients

15 minutes
5 people
  1. 5medium tomatoes
  2. 1small onion
  3. 2jalapeño peppers, serrano or árbol peppers
  4. 1small bunch of cilantro
  5. salt to taste

Cooking Instructions

15 minutes
  1. 1

Chop the tomatoes and onion into small cubes.

  2. 2

Place the chopped ingredients in a large bowl.

  3. 3

Finely chop the cilantro, including the stems if you like. Personally, I like to chop the stems as well for extra flavor in the pico de gallo. But if you prefer, you can just chop the leaves, and add it to the other ingredients.

  4. 4

Cut the jalapeño peppers in half and use a small spoon to remove the seeds to reduce the heat. If you want a spicier flavor, you can leave some seeds. Once deseeded, slice them lengthwise into thin strips and then chop into small cubes. If you don't like jalapeños, you can substitute with árbol or serrano peppers.

  5. 5

Add the chopped peppers to the bowl with the other ingredients and mix well. Add salt to taste and enjoy. 😉

  6. 6

Don't forget to wash the tomatoes, peppers, and cilantro thoroughly. Make sure the cilantro is well-drained so it doesn't add excess water to your preparation.
