A popular Arabic Bread from Yemen that is usually filled with Cheese and topped with Sugar syrup. Gorgeous and a super stunner in looks, it just melts in mouth and can also be filled with your choice of savouries if desired. It looks so nice after it is baked and makes for an excellent Breakfast or Brunch idea that will be loved by all.
Not only is it easier to whip up, it is practically done with a few easy ingredients.
Cheese can be of your choice. I have used Amul Cheese Squares this time for the same because of it's creamier and smooth texture.

It's just awesome in taste. Nothing much fancy needed as well. Needless to say, it's a beautifully baked Bread.
It resembles that of a Honeycomb and hence popularly called as Honeycomb Bread. The original name however is Khaliat Al Nahl.

Ingredients

35-40 minutes
8-10 servings
  1. 3 1/2 cupsAll-purpose Flour or Maida
  2. 2 tspSugar
  3. 2 tbspInstant dry Yeast
  4. 1beaten Egg
  5. 2 tbspButter
  6. 28-30Cheese Cubes (halved)
  7. FOR THE SUGAR SYRUP -
  8. 1 1/2 cupsSugar
  9. 1 1/2 cupwater
  10. 1/2 tspRose water
  11. FOR TOPPING -
  12. 2-3 tbspBlack seeds or Kalonji
  13. 1/4 cupMilk (for milk wash)

Cooking Instructions

35-40 minutes
  1. 1

First of all add yeast and sugar to a cup of warm milk. Stir lightly and allow it to prove. Combine the rest of the ingredients in a large mixing bowl and add the yeast mix into it. Make a smooth dough out of it. Knead it well for 5 minutes and cover.

  2. 2

Allow it to rise by keeping it in a warm place for at least 2 hours. After 2 hours, punch down the dough once and divide it into four portions. Divide further into 12 balls each. In this way we will have 48 balls out of the 4 portions.

  3. 3

Add cheese in each and shape them back into a ball securing each nicely. See to it that the ball is smooth and round.

  4. 4

Arrange them all closely just as to resemble a honeycomb. Give milk wash and sprinkle black seeds or sesame seeds on top. Keep aside for a second proofing for a further 30 minutes.

  5. 5

Bake in a preheated oven on 180° for 20 to 25 minutes.Make sugar syrup of one string consistency with all the ingredients listed under it. While it's still hot and just out of the oven, pour this sugar syrup on top so as to drench it completely.

  6. 6

Soft and fluffy cut Honeycomb Bread is all ready to be devoured. Enjoy!

An aspiring cook who actually never knew anything about Cooking until i became a mother myself. With Motherhood came the responsibilities as well and this was the turning point in my life.I started to learn the ABC's of cooking, taking help from my mother and my MIL. And time just flew. I spread my wings higher and higher. With my love for excellence and innovation, i stepped into a world of homecooks with my exposure to Cookpad one fine day on the social media. And there was no looking back since then and i have not only shared recipes here on this wonderful platform but also have made some lovely friends as well.
