Heres a simple version of the vanilla custard that you can make at home in a jiffy... tastes best with chocolate sauce!!
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Bring milk and cream mixture to boil and then simmer it. Add sugar and stir well.
- 2
In a bowl, beat the egg yolks well and add cornflour and vanilla essence to this. Whisk well till it is mixed thoroughly. (you'l get a light yellow color at this stage)
- 3
To this egg yolk mixture add some of the hot milk-cream mixture and whisk well as you add in.
- 4
Now incorporate the mixture from step3 into the rest of the milk-cream mixture. (It is very important to stir as you do this). Check for the sweetness and add more sugar if required!!
- 5
Let it cook for about a minute or two on the low flame and keep stirring. Transfer it into a serving dish and allow it to cool.
- 6
For a very simple chocolate sauce, double boil dark chocolate (i used Nestle's dark chocolate) and butter together.
- 7
Mix one teaspoon of milk to this to get a smooth consistency. Add in some chopped nuts to this and serve it along with the custard.

Custard Pudding in a Sauce Pan Custard Pudding in a Sauce Pan
This is the custard pudding that my mother always made using a pot as a double boiler. My kids also love this pudding so I changed it to use smaller amounts of ingredients. The point is the amount of boiling water and the 7 minute + 7 minute rule! If you follow this rule you will get a jiggly and delicious pudding. If the container is too big, it will take too long for the pudding to harden. This is why this recipe makes a perfect 2 containers of pudding. If you want to make more, simply double the ingredients. Recipe by Toiroiro cookpad.japan -
Caramel Sauce for Custard Cream Caramel Sauce for Custard Cream
I make basic caramel sauce in a pan. You can make it in the microwave too, but it's harder to mess up if you make it in a pan while observing it diligently. I always make custard puddings (flans) using this sauce! You can store it in the refrigerator in a sterilized jar. If you make a large batch, making custard puddings next time will be so easy! The key is to cook the sauce until it looks a bit too dark. If it's too light, the flavor will turn out too weak. However, be sure not to let it burn! Once it starts getting brown, don't take your eyes off it! It will splatter when you add the boiling water, so be sure not to burn yourself. Try turning the pan away from you when you add the boiling water. Recipe by Toiroiro cookpad.japan -

Melt-in-Your-Mouth Custard Pudding Melt-in-Your-Mouth Custard Pudding
I wanted to eat a lot of melt-in-your-mouth custard pudding. The translucent plastic jars sold at 100 yen shops or other cheap shops are not good quality and might melt in the heat so be careful (I had a bad experience). Glass jars or cups are the best. You have to have heatproof containers. There are a lot of key points you have to follow in this recipe but if you do you will recreate tasty custard pudding at home. Basic Custard Cream Basic Custard Cream
Delicious custard cream is essential if you are going to make cream puffs!I add the same amount of heavy cream to this custard cream, and use it when I'm making cream puffs. It will harden when chilled, so don't heat too much. Stop the heat when it has softened a little.Use any kind of liqueur you like. You can easily make custard cream in the microwave, but I think making it in a saucepan gives a smoother and tastier finish. Chocolate Custard Cream Chocolate Custard Cream
I love custard cream. You can use it as a bread filling or to make cream puffs. This makes a good dessert as it is.My children gobble it down! It's difficult for me to make complicated recipes, so I tried to make a simple & easy one.The key is to keep stirring the cream with a whisk over low heat. When it starts to harden, it gets hard very quickly. So if you stop stirring, the cream will become hard and lumpy. To make the cream smooth, just keep stirring! With this recipe, the custard cream turns out rather hard compare to the strawberry or banana version. I learned this recipe from a baker in Japan who uses this cream for Japanese "cream pan" (custard-cream-filled rolls). This would be great for cream puffs, crepes, or anything else you need a thick cream for! I usually cut the recipe in thirds for smaller portions. Felice
