Ingredients

  1. 2 cupsflour (Maida)
  2. 1whole egg
  3. 1/2 cupunsalted and melted butter
  4. 1 1/2pkts active yeast
  5. 2tsps sugar
  6. 1/2 cuplukewarm water
  7. 1/2 tspsalt
  8. About 1/2 cup water to knead the dough
  9. For the sugar glaze:
  10. 1 cup confectioner’s sugar
  11. 2-3 tbsp milk/water
  12. 1tsp vanilla extract
  13. 1 cup confectioner’s sugar.
  14. 1 tbsp coaco powder
  15. For the Chocolate glaze:
  16. 1 cup dark chocolate ( melted over double boiler),
  17. Oil for frying

Cooking Instructions

    To 1/2 cup of lukewarm water, stir in 2 tsps sugar and the yeast. Mix it properly and let it stand for about 10 mins, till the yeast evolves and the mixture become frothy.

    In a large bowl, put in the flour, center and add in the egg, melted butter and the yeast mixture and mix it thoroughly for about a few mins. Then knead the dough properly, such that the dough is not sticky. Cover it with a cling film or a moist muslin cloth and leave it to prove for a minimum of 1/2 an hour, until it doubles up in size.

    After half an hour, turn out the dough onto a floured surface and roll out to about 1 inch thickness. Cut with a floured doughnut cutter. Dust a pan with some flour and put the cut doughnuts into, cover again with a moist muslin cloth (so that they do not dry out) and again let them sit for about an hour, till they again double up in size.

    Now heat a pan with refined oil, slide in the doughnuts in batches of 2-3 and fry them over medium heat, till they turn golden and crispy from outside.

    Once the doughnuts are fried, take it out on a tissue paper and while still lukewarm, dip it in the glaze of your choice. Leave it to stand on wire racks, so that the excess glaze drips off and Enjoy them with a cup of hot coffee or as it is.
