Simple Daikon Radish & Crab Stick Salad

This is a recipe that I've been making since I got married. When I was still single, a co-worker made me a simmered scallop dish that tasted delicious, so I tried remaking it in my own home with crab sticks.
Please thoroughly squeeze out any excess moisture from the daikon radish during Step 3. Recipe by Donpintan

Cooking Instructions
- 1
Cut the daikon radish with a slicer and julienne it.
- 2
It should look like this ♪ I think that cutting the radish this way helps to improve the taste of the salad.
- 3
Place the daikon radish into a bowl and sprinkle some salt over the top. Let the mixture sit for 20 minutes then thoroughly squeeze out any moisture.
- 4
Tear apart the crab sticks.
- 5
Mix the crab sticks together with the daikon radish and seasoning.
- 6
Adjust the flavour to your taste with some black pepper. Check the taste again, and add some more mayonnaise or salt to adjust the flavour accordingly.
- 7
Transfer the salad to a plate and it's ready to serve.

Upgraded Daikon Radish Salad with Canned Crabmeat Upgraded Daikon Radish Salad with Canned Crabmeat
I've been making this salad ever since I got married. My husband, my daughter, and all the guests I've served this to have told me that it's delicious. If you're going to eat this right after making it, you can omit the salt treatment step at the beginning to enjoy the crispy-crunchy texture of the daikon radish. Please adjust the amount of mayonnaise you use to taste. I think finely ground black pepper is better for this rather than the coarsely ground variety. If you use a high-end can of crabmeat this becomes a dish to serve to guests, but for everyday you can use an inexpensive can or imitation crab sticks instead. Recipe by Cha-miru cookpad.japan -

Daikon Radish Sprout Salad Daikon Radish Sprout Salad
Daikon radish sprouts are inexpensive and available everywhere, and are really handy to use as toppings or garnish when a little color is needed. I always seem to have some left over, so I was wondering if there was a recipe that would allow me to use them in something that could be marinated in advance. The marinade sauce is adapted from a recipe that I wrote down from a booklet I saw more than 10 years ago. It was a sweet sauce so I thought it would go well with the spiciness of the sprouts. I tweaked the recipe in many ways to work well with the ingredients.I'm not sure how long this lasts since we always finish it the next day. Please try to finish it as soon as possible. You can of course make it in a plastic container from the start. I just prefer to make it in a bowl and then transfer it to a plastic container because I think the flavors meld better that way, especially if this is to be eaten the same day it's made.If you use cucumbers instead of sprouts as suggested in step 9, be aware that cucumber changes color faster than sprouts, so you may want to eat the salad the same day it's made. For about 3 servings. Recipe by Sabumochi cookpad.japan -
