  1. 1 cuptur dal/arhar dal
  2. 1/4 cupraw papaya cubes
  3. 1/4 cupraw banana slices
  4. 1/4 cupgolden gourd cubes
  5. 1/4 cuppotato cubes
  6. 1/4 cupbrinjal cubes
  7. 1/4 cuptomato cubes
  8. 1/4 cuparvi cubes
  9. 1 tea spoonturmeric powder
  10. For dalma masala:
  11. 3-4 piecescinnamon
  12. 4-5dry red chillies
  13. 1 table spooncumin seeds
  14. 8-10pepper corns
  15. For tampering:
  16. 3-4dry red chillies
  17. 1 tea spooncumin seeds
  18. 2 tea spoonpanch phoran
  19. 2 table spoonghee
  20. to tasteSalt
  21. As requiredChopped coriander leaves for garnishing

Cooking Instructions

    Dry roast spices for dalma.Grind to a powder,keep aside.

    Wash tur dal,put in a pressure cooker.Add water,cover with a lid and boil.When dal stars boiling add all vegetables except brinjal and tomato.Pressure cook for 2 whistles on high flame.Let pressure release.

    Open the pressure cooker,mix and add tomato and brinjal.

    Close the lid and further cook for 2 whistles on high flame.Let pressure release.

    Add dalma masala.Mix.

    For tampering:Heat a pan,add ghee and allthe spices of tampering(mentioned earlier).When seeds start crackling,add to dal.

    Garnish with coriander leaves.Dalma is ready to serve.Serve with steamed/boiled hot rice.
