Ingredients

  1. 1 cupmoong dal soaked overnight
  2. 1/4 cupwater
  3. 3 tbsprice flour
  4. 2green chilli finely chopped
  5. 1 inchginger finely chopped
  6. 2 tbsponion finely chopped
  7. 2 tbspcoriander leaves finely chopped
  8. 1 tspjeera / cumin seeds
  9. 1/2 tspsalt
  10. 1/4 tspbaking soda
  11. As neededOil for deep frying

Cooking Instructions

    Drain off the water from soaked moong dal and blend to smooth paste adding 1/4 cup water.

    Transfer the prepared moong dal batter into bowl.

    Add in 3 tbsp rice flour for crispy vada. add more rice flour if required to get thick batter.

    Now, add 2 green chilli, 1 inch ginger, 2 tbsp onion, 2 tbsp coriander, 1 tsp jeera and 1/2 tsp salt. mix well.

    Now add 1/4 tsp baking soda and give a good mix.

    Now dip your hand in water, and start dropping them one by one to hot oil.

    Keep the flame in lower to medium stir occasionally.

    Fry the vada till they turn golden brown.

  9. 9

    Drain off the vada on to kitchen towel to absorb oil.

  10. 10

    Serve moong dal vada with coconut chutney or tomato sauce.
