Ingredients

  1. To pressure cook
  2. 3/4 cuptoor dal
  3. 1 pinchasafoetida
  4. 2-3 dropscastor oil (optional)
  5. 1/2 tspturmeric powder
  6. To sauté
  7. 1 tbspoil
  8. 1/2 tspmustard seeds
  9. 1 tspcumin seeds
  10. 1onion chopped
  11. 3-4garlic pods
  12. 4-5curry leaves
  13. 1red chilli
  14. 1tomato chopped
  15. 1 tspsambar powder
  16. Salt as required
  17. 1 cupMethi leaves (half of a bundle)
  18. Coriander leaves to garnish

Cooking Instructions

    Pressure cook toor dal with other ingredients

    Heat a pan with oil. Temper with mustard seeds and cumin seeds. Add onion, garlic, red chilli and sauté until onion becomes soft. Add tomato and sauté until it becomes soft. Add sambar powder, salt and sauté until raw smell goes. Add methi leaves and sauté until it gets shrunken. Add toor dal. Let it boil for 5-10 mins.

    It’s ready to be served with rice, idli, dosa or roti.
