I can never come up with anything pink in my repertoire to put in a bento, so I uploaded this for my own records to use next year. Next year, I'll also put in more veggies.

Plain rice goes better with the cured ham than sushi rice. I made the green vegetable rice the easy way, by adding green vegetable furikake (rice seasoning). Recipe by Umihotaru

Ingredients

  1. 4balls Cured ham rice balls
  2. 5balls Shrimp ball-shaped sushi
  3. 9Burdock root meat rolls
  4. 3servings Tamagoyaki
  5. 4Sakura-colored meat balls
  6. 3Yuzu pepper paste seasoned chicken wings
  7. 1to garnish Broccolini with Japanese mustard dressing

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    For the cured ham rice balls: Lay a piece of plastic wrap over a tea cup. Place a slice of cured ham on the wrap, then fill the cup with rice mixed with green vegetables. Make it into a ball and twist-tie the plastic wrap. Decorate the top with a salted cherry blossom.

    Make the shrimp ball-shaped sushi the same way, using shrimp and sushi rice.

    For the burdock root meat rolls: Wrap boiled burdock root and carrort and cook in a teriyaki sauce.

    For the Japanese omelet: Make with 3 eggs, shiro dashi and 80 ml water. Aonori also makes a nice addition.
