Ingredients

1 hr 15-25 mins
10 servings
  1. Whole summer squash (the more uniform, the more even the cuts)
  2. Your fav crackers (I use Ritz)
  3. Italian breadcrumbs
  4. White American cheese (I use Land O Lakes)
  5. Lots of butter
  6. Pre-heated oven: 375 on bake

Cooking Instructions

1 hr 15-25 mins
  1. 1

Take a glass baking dish, like a 20 x 15 or a 19 x 13, something along that size to bake in, but first we are going to use it for portions (I portion with pans a lot and my digital scale, key tools)

  2. 2

Slice your squash around 1/4 thick until the pan is at the correct height, now keep in mind that you have some more layers a plus some space at the top

  3. 3

Next boil your squash, oops, heat water to a steam. Sorry, ok you want your squash just to point where the middle is cooked all the way with a nice snap on the skin or peel

  4. 4

Strain and put in glass dish, make a 50/50 blend crackers and Italian crumbs for your final crumbs, now take an entire stick of salted butter and slice it into 1/2 in. Pieces and spread them across the top of squash

  5. 5

Layer the cheese over the butter and squash, then put breadcrumbs on to an amount of your choosing, and bake on 375 for about 20 mins checking after 15 you just want a nice browning
