I got this recipe from my sister years ago and lost it. I am not a big apple pie fan. However, I craved this one every holiday season. I found the recipe now and am excited that I can share it!

Ingredients

1 hr 20 mins
6-8 servings
  1. Pie : 1- 9" unbaked pie crust (I used Pilsbury)
  2. 4 cupssliced apple (red and yellow apples work best...like Gala or Honeycrisp)
  3. 1 1/2 cupsugar
  4. 4 Tbspflour
  5. 1/4 tspcinnamon
  6. 1/8 tspsalt
  7. 2 Tbspbutter
  8. Ingredients for crumb topping
  9. 3 Tbspsugar
  10. 1/2 cupflour
  11. 1/8 tspsalt
  12. 1/4 tspcinnamon
  13. 4 Tbspbutter

Cooking Instructions

1 hr 20 mins
  1. 1

Mix apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon and salt. Pour into unbaked pie shell.

  2. 2

Bake at 425°F for 15 min.

  3. 3

While pie is baking, start the crumb topping by mixing sugar, flour, cinnamon, and salt. Cut in the 4 Tablespoons of butter until it crumbles.

  4. 4

Once pie is done after 15 mins, turn oven down to 350°F. Sprinkle crumb mixture over the apples and bake for 45 mins.

  5. 5

Make sure to put pie on a lined baking sheet while baking because juices tend to over flow and this will protect your oven. *I will note that I chunked my apples instead of slicing and it did not over flow.
