How to Freeze Raw Ginger Root How to Freeze Raw Ginger Root
When I buy a bag of ginger, I always let some of it get moldy or go bad, which is a waste. So whenever I buy a whole bag, I like to cut it all up and freeze it.You can save some time and effort when you're cooking. It seems that some people chop it up finely and freeze it, but in our house we use julienned ginger the most.If you freeze julienned ginger, if you leave it out for a bit at room temperature, you can chop it up easily even if it's still a bit frozen. Easy and Clean Way of Grating Ginger Easy and Clean Way of Grating Ginger
While using aluminum foil for this same method is handy, the foil gets mixed into the ginger or other grated condiments, so I use parchment paper instead. This method takes advantage of the sturdiness and strong water-resistant coating of the parchment paper, which prevents the ginger from sticking! This is a super convenient trick for when you only need a small amount of garlic, ginger or wasabi! This method is not suitable for grating large quantities of condiments at the same time, so change the parchment paper after each use. Also, the trick is to grate in one fixed direction to prevent the paper from tearing. Recipe by Heartful Kitchen Rei cookpad.japan -
Pickled Fresh Ginger for Sushi (Gari)! Pickled Fresh Ginger for Sushi (Gari)!
My mom's pickled ginger was a bit tough and sour, so I make it with the pickling liquid that I learned how to make after I got married. I enjoy making this each year.If you have leftover pickling liquid, try this:.This pickled ginger shouldn't really be kept a long time (it has moisture); this is something to be made fresh every season. It'll keep longer if you use a clean spoon for every use. Since the ginger is tender, this can be eaten right away.Since the pickling liquid is heated, it takes on the pink color right away. How to Store Frozen Parsley How to Store Frozen Parsley
I wanted to avoid letting parsley go bad if I buy a bunch of it, or let the parsley I grow in my garden die. I've been freezing parsley like this for more than 10 years. The key is to dry the parsley very, very well.If there's any moisture left on it, you won't get fine and nicely colored parsley bits, it will form clumps in the bag. It's really convenient to store parsley this way, since you can avoid the step of chopping parsley with a knife before adding to your cooking. Spring Ginger Pickled in Sweet Vinegar (Gari/Sushi Ginger) Spring Ginger Pickled in Sweet Vinegar (Gari/Sushi Ginger)
I have been making "gari" sushi ginger since I saw a recipe in a book I borrowed from the library some time ago. After making it many times, I've added my own tricks to make improve the results, to create my own gari recipe. The points that I think are important are:● Bring the sweet vinegar sauce to a boil to take the edge of the sharpness of the vinegar● Boil the ginger to eliminate the slightly grassy flavor it has (If you just boil it for 2-3 minutes, it'll retain the crispy texture).● Use good quality vinegar. This gari recipe is quite sweet. Adjust the amount of sugar to taste. Recipe by Raby cookpad.japan -

Since it's the season for fresh ginger, so I made a small jar of pickled ginger this year. You can also use store-bought plum vinegar.
