Pinto Beans and Saffron Rice Pinto Beans and Saffron Rice
A certain amount of fat has to be in our diets daily. Transfat is not good but it's only produced when vegetable oils hardens it's called hydrogenation. Hydrogenated fats, or "trans fats," are often used to keep some foods fresh for a long time.Trans fats are also used for cooking in some restaurants. They can raise LDL cholesterol levels in your blood. They can also lower your HDL (good) cholesterol levels.Animal fats like drippings and lard doesn't this. They help absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K. The fats your body gets from your food give your body essential fatty acids called linoleic and linolenic acid. They are called "essential" because your body cannot make them itself, or work without them. Your body needs them for brain development, controlling inflammation, and blood clotting. This information came from the U.S. National Library of Medicine. This is why I try and use vegetable oil as little as possible. The only oils I like to really use is olive, coconut, peanut and lard. The price and affordability is the only reason I use vegetable oil. I absolutely will not use canola oil as it does indeed cause heart lesions over a period of years of use. skunkmonkey101 -

Lettuce and Mushroom Rice Flour Crepes Lettuce and Mushroom Rice Flour Crepes
I have some bright green lettuce that is in season and is just the right size.I thought up a slightly unique salad-like recipe that captures the lettuce's crisp texture and taste.Place a sheet of parchment paper between the cooked crepes when stacking them, and they won't stick together.Instead of shimeji mushrooms, you can use shiitake mushrooms, oyster mushrooms, or any other mushrooms you like. They are good eaten as-is,like a salad, but you can put sauce or ketchup on them, if you wish. Southern Indian Breakfast Crepe: Rice and Bean Adai Southern Indian Breakfast Crepe: Rice and Bean Adai
This is our standard breakfast recipe in our house. My parents eat another kind of Dosa (bean crepe), but it requires a certain type of beans and they are hard to get hold of, so I make this one a lot, since I can make it easily using the ingredients I normally have at home. It's also delicious served with egg omelet, vegetable stir-fry, or potato salad. The batter should not be too runny, and should be a little thicker than pancake batter. Having said that, even if the batter became too runny, it will turn out tasty after pan-frying it thinly. You can use either Basmati rice or Japanese rice. Rice flour may work as well.
