Cooking Instructions
- 1
Grill peeled ginger, parsnips and onion on the grill, or broil them, for 10 minutes. 5 minutes on each side. If you are choosing to use all of the Vietnamese spices instead of the spice bag, you can broil or grill them too.
- 2
Boil beef bones for ten 10 minutes. This will get all of the protein and crud off of the bones and bring it to the top. After 10 minutes strain the bones, rinse them and dump out the water.
- 3
Throw the bones, brisket, ox tail, onion, parsnip, ginger, spice bag, fish sauce, and salt in the crockpot. Fill with water until about 1 or 1.5 inches from the top. Put on low for 8 hours.
- 4
30 minutes before serving, soak the noodles in cold water for 30 minutes. Put some water on the stove and have it coming to a boil by the time the 30 minutes are up.
- 5
Pull out the beef brisket and thinly slice it. Set it aside.
- 6
Pull all of the ingredients out of the broth. Strain the broth through a cheese cloth into a container.
- 7
Take the noodles out of the cold water and place them in a bowl. Pour the boiling water into the bowl for 15 seconds, then strain the noodles.
- 8
Distribute the noodles into the serving bowls. Add the sliced beef, cilantro, sliced onion, bean sprouts and any other garnishes.
- 9
Ladle out the strained pho broth into each bowl. Add sriracha, hoisin, and chili oil to taste. Enjoy.

Vietnam is a country with many delicious dishes. Among them, PHỞ is considered the “king of dishes” as it serves as an ambassador of Vietnamese cuisine to the world... And making a good pot of pho is not easy for home cooks (which is why famous pho shops are always crowded).Today, with the development of the food industry, instant pho packs, pho broth bases, and pho seasoning cubes are widely available, making it easier for home cooks to prepare a pot of pho for their families. However, I still enjoy the process of simmering bones and roasting spices to make a traditional pho broth, even though it is a bit complex with many ingredients, steps, and quite time-consuming. But only then do we feel like we are touching the “soul of Pho,” a dish that embodies the national spirit and essence...Today, I would like to share the Beef Pho recipe that I often cook at home whenever we gather together... Everybody has their "version" of a recipe. This one is by no means meant to serve an example of authentic Vietnamese Pho. This is my version, based on what was easy for me to buy locally for ingredients. It makes a great light meal. Other add ins include grated carrot, tofu, bamboo shoots and water chestnuts. Add what you like and make it your own. Since it can be very salty, make whatever adjustments necessary to your preference. alley927cat -

I made some boiled chicken and wanted to use the leftover soup for a light dish so I decided to make some pho. It's just flavoured simply with fish sauce. The taste may be simple but it's also delicious.Use soup left over from boiled chicken. It tastes really good! Recipe by Setsubunhijiki cookpad.japan -

Saying goodbye to 2019 with a homemade bowl of beef pho. This is the second time I've made beef pho since moving away from home for school. Hanoi pho is a treat that feels as natural as the daily grind when you're nearby. But when you're far away, you miss it deeply because nowhere else has the authentic flavor like it.
