This is the typical cookie recipe you would find on the back of a package of chocolate chips. Adding shortening is a trick from my mom. It keeps the cookie from being too flat and thin.

Ingredients

  1. 2 1/4 cupsall purpose flour
  2. 1 teaspoonbaking soda
  3. 1 teaspoonsalt
  4. 1/2 cupbutter softened
  5. 1/2 cupshortening
  6. 3/4 cupgranulated sugar
  7. 3/4 cuppacked brown sugar
  8. 1 teaspoonvanilla extract
  9. 2large eggs
  10. 1 bagchocolate chips

Cooking Instructions

    Combine flour, baking soda, and salt in a small bowl. Set aside.

    Beat butter/shortening with granulated and brown sugar until creamed. Add vanilla.

  3. 3

    Add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each egg.

  4. 4

    Gradually add the flour mix to the dough.

  5. 5

    Fold in chocolate chips.

  6. 6

    Drop on to an un-greased cookie sheet. Around 12 per sheet.

    Bake at 375 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
