Cooking Instructions
- 1
Wash and peel skin from apples, and dice into small chunks.
- 2
Place apple chunks into sauce pan, add water.
- 3
Add spices and sugar, and stir together. *Spice and sugar amounts are approximate and to taste.
- 4
Place cinnamon stick in center of apples. (If using ground cinnamon, mix in with other spices).
- 5
Bring to simmer, and cook on low heat, stirring occasionally, for approximately 30 minutes, or until apples soften. Your house will smell delicious!
- 6
When apples have softened (you want them mushy), remove cinnamon stick and drain excess liquid off. This makes excellent cider if you want to save it!
- 7
Mash your apples! Use a fork or potato masher if you like it chunky, or use a blender if you like it smooth. Done!
- 8
Apple sauce is great warm (we love ours with a dollop of whipped cream) or chilled. Delicious warm as a topping for ice cream!

Apple Sauce Apple Sauce
I frequently use apple sauce in recipes that don't use eggs. In the United States, apple sauce is very popular and is sold in jars, or in small portions for children's snacks, but I think that making it by hand is best if possible.I don't have any helpful hints, because it is so easy. I usually use this apple sauce for making sweets or flavouring curry, but I don't think that there are any Americans who weren't brought up eating this as a child. This sauce isn't sweet at all, so this is perfect as baby food. Recipe by Torepiante cookpad.japan -

Pfannekuchen (German Pancakes) with Homemade Apple Sauce Pfannekuchen (German Pancakes) with Homemade Apple Sauce
Pfannekuchen is German for "pancake" but they're really different than the fluffy American-style ones. They're basically big, thin crepes and are sooo delicious! I used to top mine with apple sauce and plenty of powdered sugar. In case you can't buy apple sauce or want to make your own, I included how do make it here. Besides apple sauce, some people eat these with fruit, jam, or nutella too ;) Felice -
