Ingredients

4 servings
  • 1 cupRice soaked for 20 mins
  • 2 tablespoonsOil
  • 2Bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoonZeera
  • PinchHing
  • 2-3green cardamoms
  • 1/2 inch stickCinnamon
  • 1star anise
  • 2-3Full red chillies
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 teaspoonTurmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoonCoriander powder
  • 1/2 CupGreen Peas
  • as requiredVadi (Any available in market) if it is big in size break into two
  • ForMasala-
  • 1Onion medium sized
  • 2Tomatoes medium sized
  • 2green chillies
  • 1/2 inchGinger
  • 3-4 clovesGarlic
  • 1 spoonlemon juice
  • as requiredGreen Coriander for garnishing

Steps

  1. 1

    Soak rice and keep aside.

  2. 2

    Take onion, tomato, green chilli, ginger and garlic in a mixer and make a smooth paste.

  3. 3

    Now take a cooker add oil heat it. Now add jeera and pinch of hing along with whole spices.

  4. 4

    Add onion tomato paste and sauce it for 5 to 6 minutes on medium flame.

  5. 5

    Once masala is roasted nicely add salt, red chilli, turmeric powder and coriander powder and mix it well.

  6. 6

    Add 1 to 2 tablespoons of water to the masala and cook till you get nice aroma and masala leave the oil

  7. 7

    Now add green peas and wadi to this again sauté it. 

  8. 8

    Now add rice and roast it for 3 to 4 minutes.

  9. 9

    Add 4 cups of water and pressure cook rice till 2 whistles. Close the gas and wait for 10 minutes

  10. 10

    Before serving garnish it with green coriander and lemon juice.
