This is a traditional recipe of Odisha. The literally meaning of Kolatha dali is "Horsegram dal"/ "kulthi dal". This is so healthy. Now-a-days people do not prepare this type of dal. You can called it as one of the lost recipes of Odisha.
Garlic and Ambula (dry mango) are the combination of preparing this dal. Due to the addition of Ambula ( dry mango) this is sour in taste and also due to the addition of Jaggery it is somewhat sweet in taste. This dal takes more time to prepare. So I used cooker for preparing the dal and also used grinder for grinding the dal. In old days people used clay pot for preparing the dal which took much more time.
