Soak chana daal for 1 hour.after that cook chana dal for 2 whistles in pressure cooker with salt and turmeric powder

Now take a pan heat a oil and cook coconut slices untill it colour changes to golden brown.remove slices from pan.low down the quantity of oil.

Now in the same pan add cummin seeds and asafoetide let them to sparkle.now add bay leaf,cardamom red chilli,ginger and garlic to it and also add dry spices Coriander powder and garam masala,now add fried coconut in it cook for few seconds and pour in the dal,also add raisins and sugar in dal

Cholar dal is ready to serve
