Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 1long French baguette
  2. 4eggs
  3. 1 cupmilk
  4. to tasteSugar or castor sugar
  5. to tasteCoffee
  6. A fewtablespoons of butter and sunflower oil

Steps

    Pour a cup of milk into a shallow bowl and add a teaspoon of instant coffee that has been dissolved in about a tablespoon of boiling water. You can add a teaspoon of sugar if you choose.

    Break the 4 eggs into a separate bowl and mix with a fork. Add a pinch of salt if you wish.

    Have ready a large plate with sugar or castor sugar sprinkled across it.

  4. 4

    Place a separate plate with absorbant kitchen paper near to the hob where you are going to fry the toast.

  5. 5

    Place a medium sized frying pan on the hob and allow to reach a medium low heat. Add a blob of butter and a dash of cooking oil to the pan.

    Place a slice of baguette inthe milk and turn it over quickly then remove and place it in the egg mixture again turning quickly to ensure it is covered with the mixture. Now fry it in the pan, turning over every few seconds until both sides are lightly golden. Place the fried bread on the absorbent paper, turn it over once so that the excess oil drains off, then place it on the plate of sugar and turn it over to lightly coat in sugar.

    Finally place it in a serving plate.
