Locho is steamed Gujarati Farsan originated in Surat. It is made from Gram Flour. The dish derives it's name from it's loose Consistency and irregular shape like dumplings.

Locho is steamed Gujarati Farsan originated in Surat. It is made from Gram Flour. The dish derives it's name from it's loose Consistency and irregular shape like dumplings.
Steps

Soak chana dal and urad dal in a bowl for 4 to 5 hours.

After 5 hours, place drained chana dal and urad dal in a mixer jar. Also, add green chilli and ginger paste, gram flour, curd and water in the jar and make a smooth puree. Transfer puree into a bowl, cover with a lid and ferment to overnight.

After overnight, whisk the batter and add salt, turmeric powder, hing, and oil. Mix it well. Take 1 cup of batter in a separate bowl and add 1 cup of water and 1/2 tsp eno in the bowl. Mix it well. Now, grease oil in a steamer plate and pour the batter into the plate. Steam it for 15 minutes.

On another side, for surti locho masala: Mix 1/2 tsp Black pepper powder, 1 tsp red chilli powder, 1 tsp Black salt and 1 tsp Cumin powder.

After 15 minutes, take out in the plate and serve Hot locho in a plate with butter, sev, chopped onion, cheese, surti locho masala and Green chutney.
