We will fry one banana on a little oil,cut into 4 pieces, and we leave the other banana raw, and simply slice it, mix it with slices of onion. For garnish: shredded raw carrot and sweet corn. I only had from can, but fresh cooked sweet corn is even better. This combo of onion and banana is so unique for me!

Homemade Mock-Tempeh for Indonesian Dishes Homemade Mock-Tempeh for Indonesian Dishes
Tempeh is my favorite Indonesian fermented soy ingredient. Traditional tempeh is made by adding the tempeh bacteria to cooked tender soy beans and allowing it to ferment for 1-2 days. Unlike the natto, tempeh has no taste or smell and it is easier to handle. It is an essential ingredient in Indonesian cuisine. Here's my effort at reproducing it.-If you have no time, slice the tempeh as it is, pour in a sauce, or soy sauce to eat it, or serve it as a side dish.-These are hard to flip it over. Use a lid or plate to make it easier to flip.-They burn very easily, so cook over very low heat. Recipe by *chifon* cookpad.japan -
Homemade Tempeh Goleng (Indonesian) Homemade Tempeh Goleng (Indonesian)
In Indonesian, "goleng" means "bake, fry, cook".Tempeh Goleng is an Indonesian dish made up of simple and spicy ingredients that go very well together. This is the only thing I order when I go to Indonesia. I wanted to make it in Japan, so I came up with this version.-Homemade tempeh falls apart easily, so coat it in flour.-Of course, you can also use store-bought tempeh with this recipe!-It will also taste good if you use Japanese-style Worcestershire sauce or soy sauce as a sauce. Make your own variation. Recipe by *chifon* cookpad.japan -
Vegetables Fritters (Indonesian Bala-Bala) Vegetables Fritters (Indonesian Bala-Bala)
#indonesianfood #vegetarian #veganfriendlyI was so craving with Indonesian deep fried snacks lately. So today I made this vegetables fritters for myself since my hubby is not really fans of any deep fried food. I choose vegetables fritters, because it’s very easy to make and also less ingredients. I can used any vegetables that I have in my fridge, then just adding flour, season with seasoning, mix together and fry it. Sounds easy right? Indeed, it is easy.By the way actually in Indonesia there are many kind of vegetables fritters. But normally they have similar ingredients and seasoning but some other region has different way of how to fried. In East Java, they’re using ladle to shape the batter and deep frying it. It’s called Weci, Heci, or Ote-ote. In West Java they’re simply just dropping the batter with the spoon into the hot oil and fried it. It’s called Bala-bala. So this time I am going to make bala-bala and I am simply using West Java methods to frying the vegetables fritters. Okay... let’s check on the ingredients and how to make it. Nia Hiura -
Indonesian Style Fried Tofu Indonesian Style Fried Tofu
See that golden blocks on the right top? It is called tofu and it's delicious!Tofu is made of soya milk and therefore it's vegan, rich in protein, and cheap. However, it is quite difficult to cook it because it's natural flavour is plain. It has not so much taste, white pale color, and subtle smell.I've had a lot of tofus in my life and as I remember, the tofus I had were great because of something else that came with them: the sauce, the coating wheat, or vegetables that were the ingredients of the dish besides the tofu itself. And oh, yes, they were deep fried. Everything tastes great when it's deep fried.Being Dutch, limiting eating deep fried stuffs, and doesn't consume as much tofu as I do as an Indonesian, my husband never thinks of tofu as an appealing dish. So when he finally sees it that way, I am more than eager to share this recipe.Keep reading because I am revealing the secret on the last step! 😎 Berlian Utami -

'Indonesian' beef stew 'Indonesian' beef stew
This stew is my own combination of some beef stew recipes I knew. With ketjap as a major component, I think it would classify as Indonesian. Though alternatives like soy sauce would probably also work, and make it less Indonesian. It is a fairly easy recipe, but it needs some time to stew. It works especially well with fries or other potato dishes.Due to the fact that my preferred binding agent is starch it is also gluten free, in contrary to some stews. Starch has the added benefit that it can be added at the end, because unlike flour it does not have this raw taste.Rik
