Ingredients

35 minutes
4 servings
  • 3 cupsthick beaten rice /poha/ avalkki
  • 2tea spoons of sugar
  • 2tea spoons salt
  • 1and a half cups of water
  • 2tea spoons mustard seeds
  • 3 teaspoonscumin seeds
  • leaves(8-9) curry
  • 4small green chillis finely chopped
  • 4medium onions finely chopped
  • 1 tea spoontumeric /haldi
  • 1/2asafoetida
  • 2table spoons of lime juice
  • 4medium size potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 3table spoons chopped coriander
  • to tasteExtra sugar
  • 1/2 cuppeanuts with skin
  • 5table spoons of oil
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1/2 cupfresh coconut or desiccated coconut

Steps

35 minutes
  1. 1

    Firstly soak poha

  2. 2

    Add sugar, salt and tumeric on soaked pao and mix gently.

  3. 3

    In a large Kadai heat 2 tbsp oil, splitter 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp cumin, pinch of hinge and few curry leaves.

  4. 4

    Add 1 onion, 2 chillis and stir well.

  5. 5

    Stir until onions shrink slightly without browning.

  6. 6

    Add potatoes

  7. 7

    Add peanuts in after four minutes

  8. 8

    Add in soaked poha and mix gently until everything is combined well

  9. 9

    Cover and simmer for five minutes until flavours are absorbed well.

  10. 10

    Add 2 tbsp coconut, 2 tbsp coriander and tsp lemon juice, mix gently

    Finay enjoy poha serve
