Corn Dog (Sausage Fritter on a Stick)
Street food recipe, perfect for eating with your hands. I usually make it as an appetizer or for a themed meal.
Cooking Instructions
- 1
In a large bowl, mix the eggs with the sugar and salt.
- 2
Add the flours.
- 3
Warm the milk and pour it into the bowl. Mix well.
- 4
Add the baking powder and mix again.
- 5
Your batter is ready. Now, prepare your sticks. Skewer the sausages on wooden sticks (like small skewer sticks). Do the same with cheese sticks (Gruyère, mozzarella...) if you want to mix things up. You can even do half sausage, half cheese. Or wrap the sausage in a cheese slice, you get the idea, let your imagination and taste buds run wild!
- 6
Heat a pot of frying oil, enough to completely submerge the sticks (so a large pot or deep fryer).
- 7
Fry for about 3 minutes. Remove with tongs and place on paper towels to drain.
- 8
Serve with a drizzle of your chosen sauce.

Corn Fritters Corn Fritters
I made this by request of my corn fritter loving friends. I used simple ingredients and flavored them the way they like it.1. The fritter batter is well flavored, so you can enjoy the fritters without any sauce.2. 70 grams of flour makes a rather loose batter, but you can enjoy the crispiness of the vegetables more. Please adjust the amount of flour to taste.3. Be careful not to burn yourself when adding the fritters to the hot oil. Recipe by PARNELL cookpad.japan -
Chunky Fish Sausage and Vegetable Kakiage Fritters Chunky Fish Sausage and Vegetable Kakiage Fritters
These fish-sausage morsels are very colorful. They are fluffy when cooked, and I want them to have plenty of flavor on their own (without any dipping sauce and so on) so they are well seasoned too. When you drop the fritters in the oil in Step 3, form them so that each piece is fairly small and round. They will turn into cute round morsels. These are delicious as is, but you can eat them with ketchup or tempura dipping sauce if you like . For 2-4 servings. Recipe by caramel-cookie cookpad.japan -

I make these as a change of pace item for my son's bentos, since he loves sausages. If you use Pretz (savory stick shaped snacks made by Glico) or pasta as the sticks, there's no waste!(These batter-dipped 'corn' dogs are called American dogs in Japan, and are coated with pancake batter with no cornmeal.) Corn Tempura Fritters Corn Tempura Fritters
I had some corn tempura some time ago at an izakaya (Japanese gastropub), and I was amazed at how good it was! I think it was frozen corn though...I thought it would be even better made with fresh corn, so I tried making it.If the batter is too loose it won't dry up properly. If it looks like the fritters will fall apart when turning them over, user a spoon.Don't touch the fritters right after putting them in the frying oil. Turn them over after the surface has hardened.I used fresh corn this time, but you can make this with frozen corn as well. For 2 servings. Recipe by Riirin no ouchi recipe cookpad.japan -

My usual recipe for corned beef fritters involves onion. Today I am too lazy to peel and cut an onion, so I tried making the fritters with another recipe. They turn out well and tasty. If you want to make ball-shaped fritters, use a small ice cream spoon to scoop the batter. You can choose not to add any condiments, or add a bit of salt and pepper. Angela Mertoyono -

I used the coating from "Italian Tempura Fritters"and had fun with it to make a crispy and light coating for the vegetables. Please don't use cake flour, use bread flour. This is not difficult like making Japanese tempura. They will easily become crispy. Make sure to sprinkle with salt while they are still hot, otherwise the flavor won't be absorbed.
