Easy Miniature "Corn Dogs"

I make these as a change of pace item for my son's bentos, since he loves sausages.

If you use Pretz (savory stick shaped snacks made by Glico) or pasta as the sticks, there's no waste!
(These batter-dipped 'corn' dogs are called American dogs in Japan, and are coated with pancake batter with no cornmeal.) Recipe by kaeren mama.

Ingredients

3 servings
  1. 150 gramsPancake mix
  2. 50 mlMilk
  3. 1Egg
  4. 2to 3 bags Mini wiener sausages (cocktail size)
  5. 1Long pasta (e.g. spaghetti)

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Poke pieces of uncooked long pasta in the sausages. If you're using regular sized sausages, I recommend using Pretz (savory stick shaped snacks made by Glico).

  2. 2

Coat the sausages on pasta sticks with the batter.

  3. 3

    Then just deep fry them.

  4. 4

They're very small so they are cooked in no time, so pay attention. Turn them around a bit while cooking so that they fry evenly.

  5. 5

I recommend these for special occasion bentos like sports festivals and school outings.

  6. 6

You can use the same method using vegetables or cheese coated in batter.
