I saw a recipe in a dessert cookbook from overseas which used dates pickled in orange juice, so I bought some orange juice and tried to make it. Dates pickled in brandy or rum are often used in pound cakes, but dates pickled in orange juice are unusual, so I wrote up the recipe.The dates will dissolve if you leave them to soak for too long, so only leave them for a day or two.
