Ingredients

  • 3 Tblflour
  • 1 Tblyour favorite chili powder (adjust to taste and heat)
  • 1 tspcumin powder
  • 1/2 tsponion powder
  • 1/2 tspgarlic powder
  • 1/2 tsporegano
  • 1/4 tspcayenne pepper (optional if you like it HOT)
  • 1/4 tspsalt (optional)
  • 2 Tblolive oil (or other oil)
  • 2 Tbltomato paste
  • 2 cupsvegetable or chicken broth (if using a can just add water to equal 2 cups)
  • 1 tspvinegar (apple cider or white)
  • 1/2 tspblack pepper (adjust to taste)

    In a small bowl mix flour, chili powder, cumin, onion powder, garlic powder, oregano and cayenne pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat oil in sauce pan. When hot, whisk in the spice mix. Cook for about 2 minutes continuing to whisk the entire time.

  3. 3

    Add tomato paste to pan and cook 1 minute while whisking.

  4. 4

    Continuing to whisk while adding the broth slowly.

  5. 5

    Bring to boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 10 minutes.

  6. 6

    It is now ready to use in your favorite recipe.
