Cooking Instructions
- 1
Remove the husks of the corn and place into a large pot with handles on both sides. Add enough water to completely cover the corn, cover with a lid, and turn on the heat.
- 2
Be sure to use oven mitts when handling the pot (put them on a minute before it's done boiling).
- 3
Once Step 1 has come to a boil, turn the heat to low and simmer for 7 minutes.
- 4
Like the picture, open the lid about 1 cm and drain out all but 1 cm of the water (be sure to firmly hold the lid against the pot!).
- 5
Open the lid and sprinkle the 2 heaping teaspoons of salt into the water. Close the lid tightly, hold the lid down onto the pot, and use both hands to shake the pot.
- 6
Using the method you used in Step 4, drain the salted water from the pot and it's done.

I learned this from someone at work. I was shocked at how easy and delicious it was... and adapted itIn step 4, the corn will still be OK if you don't turn it over, but it may be cooked a bit unevenly. If you don't want to turn them over though, just microwave for 5 to 6 minutes.I've already said this in the instructions, but please be careful not to burn yourself. It's really hot when you take it out! Recipe by natsuno cookpad.japan -
How to Boil Corn on the Cob How to Boil Corn on the Cob
I've been experimenting to find the ultimate way to boil corn and found that this method was most delicious. The flavor barely changes at all whether boiled with or without the husks. The benefits of boiling with the husks is that they soften which will help decrease the amount of garbage, and the threads are easier to remove.◎The texture of the corn will change depending on when you add it to the water. If you add it while the water is already boiling, it will be crunchy. If you add the corn before the water boils, it will be plump and juicy.◎The white kernel corn has a thin skin so please don't boil them for too long.◎If you soak the corn in the saltwater, it won't crinkle up. If you are not going to eat right away, cover with plastic wrap and store. Recipe by Dosankomisuzu cookpad.japan -

Perfect 3-Minute Corn-on-the-Cob Perfect 3-Minute Corn-on-the-Cob
This method I learned from my mother can also be applied to other uses.Since this method only uses a small amount of water, you barely need any salt. This method results in a very brightly colored and flavorful corn. Since it uses only a small amount of water with a short boiling time, it's perfect for hot summer days.See my preparation methods for edamame, fava beans, green beans, etc. It only takes between 1-4 minutes to cook this way, so it's perfect for summer vegetables. So Sweet! Steamed Corn on the Cob So Sweet! Steamed Corn on the Cob
I heard that cooking corn on the cob while they're still in their husks helps to keep the sweetness from seeping out, so now I always use this method. The most important point is to steam the corn with the husks. Their sweet flavor won't escape and they will be so delicious~I think it's best to use a cast metal, non-stick pot, or an earthenware pot. Recipe by kazz72 cookpad.japan -

I saw a video on Youtube about grilling corn with the husks. I remade it using herbs that are easy to get in Japan. You can change the powdered herbs for herb flavored salt or seasoning salt. Adapt it to suit the BBQ!If you taste the sauce as it's being made, there's no way it will fail. If there isn't enough butter, you can add some olive oil.Enjoy!! For 4 husks of corn.
