Let's make Homemade Rice Flour

cookpad.japan
cookpad.japan @cookpad_jp

You can make rice flour easily by yourself. There are even rice farmers that own equipment to make rice flour.

It's hard to use a mortar and pestle to completely grind rice, so it's best not to make too much at once. You can make a little under 150 g of rice flour with 1 cup of rice. Recipe by FarmersK

Steps

  1. 1

Just as when you're preparing rice for cooking, thoroughly rinse the rice and let it soak in a generous amount of water. Soak the rice for about 3 hours and then drain well.

  2. 2

Spread the rice out in a dish and let dry. Dry it until you can crush it easily with your fingers.

  3. 3

Grind the dried rice in a mill.

  4. 4

Sift out the finer particles of the mill-ground rice using a sieve or a tea strainer.

  5. 5

For the rice that was not ground finely enough, grind it further with a mortar and pestle. Alternatively, if you don't have a mill, you can grind the rice using the mortar and pestle from the start.
