Rinse and soak the ingredients separately.

Boil the pearl barley and lotus seeds until cooked, then drain.

Combine 3 quarts of water with 14 oz of rock sugar and cook until dissolved. Add the dried longan, dried jujube, and raisins, and bring to a boil for about 20 minutes.

Add the lotus seeds and pearl barley, cook for another 10 minutes to absorb the sugar, then add the remaining ingredients and simmer for an additional 5 minutes before turning off the heat.
