Ingredients

  1. 1.5 cupswhole Green Moong Dal
  2. 1 pieceginger
  3. 2-3green chillies
  4. 2-3 podsgarlic
  5. 1/2 cupor 1 bunch coriander leaves
  6. 1 TspCumin seeds
  7. 1/2 cupchopped onion
  8. 1 pinchhing or asafoetida
  9. as per tasteSalt
  10. 1 Tspeno fruit salt
  11. As required Vegetable oil

Cooking Instructions

    Wash and soak the Green Moong dal overnight. Grind with ginger, green chilies, garlic, and coriander adding just enough water to make a smooth but thick batter.

    Heat vegetable oil in a pan. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds,hing, and onion, fry for a few seconds, until the onion turn slightly brown. Add this tempering to the batter and mix well. Now add salt and eno fruit salt.

    Now heat the appe mould on a medium flame and grease it with a brush using oil. Pour 1 tbsp of the batter into each mould using a spoon, Cook for about 2-3  minutes until edges become firm. Gently flip each appe over with a spatula. Cook for another 2- 3 minutes or until the other side cooks well. Remove appe from pan. Repeat the same procedure for the rest of the batter. Serve hot appe with chutney.
