I received a lot of delicious pears, so I wanted to somehow use them. That's when I decided to make a sweet sauce.

Ingredients

2 servings
  1. 1four 1 cm slices Sweet potato (anno-imo)
  2. 1four 1 cm slices Lotus root
  3. 1 bunchMizuna (cut into 2 or 3 cm long pieces)
  4. 30 gramsPear (diced into 2 or 3 mm chunks)
  5. 10 grams*Butter
  6. 1 tsp*Mentsuyu
  7. 1 tbsp*Mirin
  8. 1 tbsp*Sake
  9. 1/2 tsp*Miso
  10. 1Ichimi spice (optional)

Cooking Instructions

    Combine all of the * ingredients to make the sauce, cut the other ingredients as described.

    Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan and cook the lotus root and sweet potatoes.

    Steam over low heat with either a lid or aluminum foil.

    Once cooked through, cook over high heat until browned.

  5. 5

    Turn off the heat, then pour in the sauce and coat the vegetables. Transfer the lotus root and sweet potatoes to a plate lined with mizuna.

    Add the diced pear to the remaining sauce in the pan and simmer.

    Like this, top with the pear sauce and enjoy.

    If you prefer a spicier taste, sprinkle with ichimi spice. Both hot and sweet, the mixture of flavors is exquisite.
